Congratulations you are the...

Elemental Artist

Symbol: Sprout

"When a seed falls on the ground, it needs warmth, water and light in order to germinate and sprout."

This is a large stage that encompasses Aspiring Artists who have just taken the first steps to learning as well as others who have been on their art journey for a while. (I was an Elemental Artist for decades!)

If you're a brand new Aspiring Artist...

Congratulations, if you have just taken the first step toward making your art.

You have committed to learning. Maybe you have found a teacher or are following artists you like on social media.

You love looking at art.

If you are just starting, be gentle on yourself, and enjoy the process.

Know that all the art exercises, painting and just playing with the materials will help you get to the next step.

It can be frustrating to know where you want to go but not how to get there. Keep the faith and continue on your path.

If you've been painting a while...

The Elemental Artist who has been painting for awhile may have lots going on that is not art-related and finding time may be difficult.

That was me. And it's A-OK!

Study and paint as you have time. Work on your painting process so jumping back in is easier when you take time off.

Remember how you feel when making art. Times flies and worries are sidelined. And one day your focus can change and all this time practising will really pay off.

Here's How You Can Take Your Art To The Next Level

> Learn about the elements of art. The painting skills learned through studying the elements of art are the main focus of the Elemental Artist.

> Experiment with different types of art and supplies. Keep an eye out for your emails where I will share with you a list of my current favourite supplies!

> Have your supplies on in a spare room that is ready to go. This will make it easy to jump in and dabble a bit when you have a moment.

> Continue looking for inspiring teachers and classes.

> Practice your art with the intention of learning something new each time. Bring that new information with you the next time you paint.

> Find art inspiration in museums, art books and art history.

> Join an in-person or online art community like Chroma Community. Begin to surround yourself with other artists/painters and share ideas and methods.

Hey there!

I'm Kathleen

Let me introduce myself... I'm a fine artist and art teacher. I took a watercolor class in college that started my life-long art journey.

I now paint mostly with oil, inspired by the beautiful landscapes of NW Florida.

Today I also teach others who wish to learn skills to help them confidently paint on their own and experience the joy of painting.
